Mission Australia is looking for a Senior Research and Insights Officer on a 6-month maximum term contract to help us uncover opportunities to create lasting change for individuals, families and communities. In this role, you'll deliver research that translates into powerful insights, shaping strategies and highlighting unmet needs. Your work will inform how we expand our impact and build evidence to courageously advocate for better outcomes for people and communities facing disadvantage, and influence the changes needed to create a fairer Australia. Your key responsibilities will be to:Lead research and insights projects that strengthen Mission Australia's strategic objectives and highlight areas of unmet need. Analyse qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, drivers, and leading indicators that inform decision-making. Translate complex findings into clear, practical insights that improve services, performance, and client outcomes. Ensure research outputs are accurate, accessible, and of the highest quality through strong quality assurance processes. Communicate research outcomes in simple, compelling ways to diverse audiences across Mission Australia and the sector. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring insights are relevant and applied effectively. Stay across emerging research trends, methodologies, and innovations to continually improve our approaches and outcomes. Contribute expertise to cross-functional teams, supporting collaboration, creative problem-solving, and shared learning. Requirements for successTertiary qualifications in human services, social sciences, research, analytics, or a related field. Proven experience leading research projects and applying insights to strategic outcomes. Strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis. Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. Demonstrated success in building strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders. Strong communication skills-able to write and present research in a compelling and accessible way. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities. A collaborative mindset with a track record of contributing effectively to cross-functional teams.
