Dr Papa Abdoulaye Seck Ministre de l’Agriculture et de l’Equipement rural en visite dans la vallée : « Nous sommes en train de faire des pas de géants vers l’autosuffisance » De profondes mutations s’opèrent dans la vallée. Tel est le constat du ministre de l’agriculture et de l’équipement rural Dr Papa Abdoulaye Seck qui est visite dans la vallée depuis le 8 Juin et qui prendra fin le 12 de ce même mois. Cette visite entre dans le cadre du suivi de la campagne de contre-saison rizicole. A cet effet, Dr Papa Abdoulaye Seck en compagnie du Gouverneur de Saint louis Alioune A NIANG et le Directeur Général de la SAED Samba Ndiobéne KA se sont rendu sur le terrain pour visiter des périmètres rizicoles et rencontrer des producteurs de la Vallée du Fleuve Sénégal. Après avoir visité les périmètres du 3PRD, Boundoum, Grand Digue, Thiagar, Nadiel , les champs de Serigne Moussa Nawel et de Thierno Bachir et également la nouvelle rizerie de de la compagnie agricole de Saint Louis (CASL) , le ministre a exprimé son optimisme de voir l’autosuffisance se réaliser . Selon lui cet objectif est en train d’être atteint avec des pas de géants car des mutations profondes s’opérent dans la vallée . En effet les producteurs tendent vers les semences sélectionnées et vers l’élevation du niveau de mécanisation pour faire une double culture. Elles vont conduire selon Dr Papa Abdoulaye Seck à une civilisation rizicole nouvelle qui sera fondée sur d’autres pratiques et une autre reconsidération de l’Etat. D’ailleurs les producteurs ont rappelé et salué la parcellisation des responsabilités. Motivé par de telles pratique le ministre de l’agriculture et de l’équipement rural pense que l’autosuffisance sera atteinte avec un engagement sans failles de tous les acteurs et aussi avec la volonté de l’Etat et la vision du chef de l’Etat. Et à leur tour , les producteurs ont reconnu les efforts consentis par l’Etat du Sénégal pour l’atteinte des objectifs d’autosuffisance en riz avant de vanter leurs performances en terme d’emblavures 46924 hectares. Ce qui correspond à une hausse de 11% sur les superficies cultivées par rapport à l’année dernière durant la campagne de contre saison sèche. Face à l’enjeu la tutelle compte faire face à la menace aviaire en combinant la lutte terrestre et aérienne. Au cours de ce séjour, le Ministre de l’Agriculture et de l’Equipement rural devra avoir également, des séances de travail avec les différents acteurs et partenaires de la filière rizicole au siège de la SAED, pour traiter des questions concernant les aménagements, matériels agricoles disponibles, la productivité, la maitrise d’eau et les intrants de bonne qualité et en quantité suffisante avec les nouvelles variétés de semences à haut rendement, entre autres.
