I would also like to see a Big Boy return to the Upstate. Not a former franchise Shoney's, but an original Big Boy. Currently there is a franchise feud over territory in Ohio between Frisch's Big Boy and the national corporate Big Boy from Michigan. The national Big Boy from Michigan has taken over foreclosed Frisch's locations in Ohio, but must use the name Dolly's until the trademark litigation is settled. Different name but same menu otherwise, except the Big Boy burger is now the Signature Sandwich at Dolly's. But in Ohio, Dolly's is using a white sauce on the burger similar to Frisch's famous tartar sauce. In Michigan, Big Boy uses a 1000 Island sauce on the burger.

Frisch's issues emerged when the founding family sold out to private equity, and the real estate properties were sold to an investment firm. Rents were raised, Frisch's was foreclosed upon and evicted. Now the Michigan Big Boy has reopened these former Frisch's locations, but can't use the Big Boy name as Frisch's claims exclusive territory in most of Ohio except Cleveland. The Michigan Big Boy has the rights to Cleveland, as well as most other states including South Carolina. Frisch's claims most of Ohio, Kentucky, and parts of Indianna.
