Even the big ball clubs fall into a slump, I remember being happy for the Yankees in 1996, not being a huge Ted Turner fan, beating the Braves that year, to get their first WS win since 1978. Little did I know Joe Torre would take them to 3 WS wins in a row (all of them blowouts for the Yankees) starting in 1998, and by the time that was done, everyone was sick of the Yankees. It's not good for baseball when big market teams steamroll the small clubs year after year. It has to be exciting to watch, like this year's series. What happened to the Cardinals? They gave us one of the most exciting WS I can remember in 2011 against the Rangers, and not done **** since then. Same thing with the Reds after the Pete Rose years. Many clubs that were once great, can lay dormant for decades. (责任编辑:) |
