From reading both threads (Kunis & Co., and current) there seems to be more than a few posters who seem psychologically damaged by their upbringing, as well as all the adverts that shame us into a belief that we are disgustingly dirty, smelly, etc. There is also little to no correlation between race, class, and cleanliness. Logically there is a happy medium here, between scrubbing everything and showering daily, and living like a Kutcher or a Kunis. Washing up daily, with soap and a flannel, or synthetic scrubbies will more than suffice for many skin types. They may get by fine with a weekly or twice weekly shower. Some do a quick rinse or use a body wash after the gym, but they aren't scrubbing every bit in there for twenty or thirty minutes. They smell fresh when they leave though. If people pay attention daily to pits, crotch, arse, and feet, they can easily get by with three showers a week, perhaps fewer if they have dry skin and are not active people. We're not meant to remove all oil and bacteria; it's impossible anyhow. I like a long hot bath once a week, usually after some serious exfoliating and rinsing. Three showers a week are plenty for me, in addition to my bath, and daily washing up. It's an American habit and hang up to believe you'll stink without a daily shower. It's the soap and the friction which get us clean and remove bacteria, not the rinsing under multiple gallons of water for twenty or thirty minutes. It's wasteful, and completely unnecessary. Even on long camping and backpacking trips, I don't stink. I find water to wash, whether from a stream, or a well pump, or a lake. I also bring unscented deo or antiperspirant. I'm not bragging, but have gone as long as thirteen days without a proper shower, yet I still managed to keep adequately clean, and stink free. That said, I wouldn't go as far as the Doc referenced on the Kunis & Kutcher thread who went five years without a shower. The only weird thing is Kutcher not using soap for his arse and feet, and come to think of it, Kunis didn't mention soap for her feet either. Some of these notions about how dirty we are have more deep psychological meaning to some of you. You probably never really feel clean enough. (责任编辑:) |
